The Center at Kfar Galim: "HaGal Sheli" at the foot of the Carmel mountain
Educational Coordinator: Uri Koler
Our northern center at the youth village “Kfar Galim” was established in the winter of 2015. It started out in a small, family size caravan which hosted only two groups a week.
Two years later, thanks to the help of good friends, the staff of the youth village and additional partners, we got to expand the center, renovate it and turn it into a beautiful gem, surrounded by lawns and trees.
During the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year, the team at Kfar Galim is already training 11 groups! Among them are groups from: the “Kfar Galim” youth village, schools from Haifa, Tirat HaCarmel, Kiryat Bialik, youth from the Naale program (teenagers from the diaspora coming to Israel before the rest of their family), Atlit, the village of Nahf and the city of Tamra.
The activity at Kfar Galim takes place in a fruitful cooperation with the youth village, headed by Mr. Danny Gildin – the village CEO, who supports our activities and welcomes them.
At our disposal we have a beautiful and safe “private” beach, where the boys and girls get to “catch the wave” with the help of our team, the educational program and of course – the sea.
Since the “HaGal Sheli” center was established at “Kfar Galim”, the alumni community has been growing and currently consists of 70 graduates, of whom about ten are working as paid surfing instructors in the social business “Al HaGal”.
During the 2018-2019 year, for the first time, we will run a program in cooperation with the “Hof-HaCarmel” Regional Council and the Society for The Protection of Nature in Israel where 10th graders will participate in a volunteer program and learn to surf.
The purpose of this program is to create a local group of young activist, which will influence the public awareness to the sea and environment
In addition to this program, volunteers from the Israeli Navy’s Shayetet 13 (Israeli “Navy Seals”) will come out to support and contribute to our participants from their experience and together we will continue building the center’s alumni community.
The staff and trainees of “HaGal Sheli” at Kfar- Galim invite you to come visit us and enjoy the wonderful northern air, our fun and pleasant center and a real place of empowerment.
